Riyadh, October 10, 2024 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the 18th edition of Al Dhafra Festival will commence on October 21, 2024, in Abu Dhabi. Organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, the festival will be a major event of the camel mazayna season, running until January 30, 2025.

Al Dhafra Festival will feature four camel mazayna events, beginning with the Sweihan Mazayna from October 21 to October 28, followed by the Razeen Mazayna in November, Madinat Zayed Mazayna in December, and concluding with the Al Dhafra Festival Mazayna in January. The competitions will include 361 rounds across camel mazayna and milking contests, with 3,460 prizes up for grabs in categories such as Majahim, Asayel, Asayel hybrids, and Wadh.

In addition to the camel events, the festival will host a variety of heritage competitions, including falconry contests, Arabian Saluki beauty contests, Arabian horse races, and Al Naim sheep beauty contests. The Al Dhafra traditional souk will also offer attendees a chance to explore Emirati cultural events, outdoor markets, and pavilions from government and private organizations.

This year’s festival aligns with the Year of Sustainability, highlighting collective efforts to promote environmental protection and resource conservation. The event reinforces Abu Dhabi’s commitment to preserving Emirati heritage, supporting camel breeding, and promoting falconry and purebred Arabian horses.

Through these heritage and cultural programs, Al Dhafra Festival aims to celebrate the UAE’s rich traditions, bolster national identity, and enhance Abu Dhabi's status as a leading destination for heritage tourism.
