Oslo, October 7, 2024 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, met with Norway's Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre to discuss deepening bilateral relations between the UAE and Norway. The leaders explored ways to enhance collaboration across economic, trade, and investment sectors, particularly in areas such as energy, advanced technology, air transport, and scientific research.

The meeting saw the signing of several key cooperation agreements, including an agreement between the General Civil Aviation Authorities of the UAE and Norway aimed at expanding air transport services. This agreement seeks to boost trade and tourism, increasing passenger and cargo traffic between the two nations.

Another significant agreement was a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Khalifa University of Science and Technology and the Arctic University of Norway – Tromsø, focused on academic and research cooperation. This MoU supports collaborative research in fields such as artificial intelligence, climate action, circular economy, and renewable energy. The agreement will expand research efforts to tackle climate change impacts, particularly in the Arctic and Antarctic regions.

Several other strategic agreements were announced, including:

  • A cooperation agreement between ADNOC and Equinor aimed at exploring carbon capture and storage, low-carbon hydrogen, and the trading of low-carbon oil and gas. This partnership leverages the shared expertise of both companies in reducing carbon intensity in the energy sector.

  • Masdar signed a Strategic Framework Agreement with Equinor to strengthen collaboration on the Hywind Floating Wind Farm in Scotland and explore new ventures in renewable energy.

  • Masdar and Yara signed an MoU to collaborate on the Power-to-Green Ammonia value chain, with an emphasis on Green Hydrogen, which is central to decarbonizing industries.

  • Masdar also signed an MoU with ICP Infrastructure, a fund backed by Aker Group, to explore green energy infrastructure partnerships in Europe, including renewables in the Nordic Region.

  • An additional MoU with Aker Horizons Asset Development focuses on joint ventures in the Power-to-Green Hydrogen value chain to decarbonize hard-to-abate sectors.

These agreements underscore the commitment of the UAE and Norway to strengthen their economic ties, support sustainability initiatives, and address pressing climate change challenges. The bilateral cooperation aims to create new opportunities for joint ventures, further solidifying the partnership between the two nations.
