Desert Challenge: Tabuk – NEOM Rally Launches Its First Edition


PARIS, France - The first edition of the Tabuk-NEOM Rally, the second round of the 2023 Saudi Toyota Desert Rally Championship, kicked off on Thursday at King Khalid Sports City in Tabuk, under the patronage of Prince Fahd bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of Tabuk Region.


The rally, organized by the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation (SAMF) and the Saudi Motorsports Company, attracted a strong field of 23 cars, 12 motorcycles, and three quad bikes, representing various teams and nationalities.


The participants competed in a 3.52 – kilometer show stage on Thursday, as a warm-up for the main stages that will take place on Friday and Saturday. The rally will cover a total distance of 1,050 kilometers, including 600 kilometers of special stages across the stunning landscape of Tabuk and NEOM.


Prince Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdullah bin Faisal, the Chairman of SAMF and the Saudi Motorsports Company, inaugurated the rally and delivered a speech praising the achievements of Saudi Arabia in various fields, especially sports, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.


He also thanked Prince Fahd bin Sultan for his support and facilitation of the rally activities in Tabuk Region. He said that the rally aims to promote motorsport in Saudi Arabia and showcase its natural beauty and tourism potential in the world.


The Tabuk-NEOM Rally is being held in cooperation with the Ministry of Sports and with the official sponsor Abdul Latif Jameel Motors and the strategic sponsor Saudi Investment Bank (SAIB).
