Abha, Saudi Arabia - August 13, 2024 – The Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF), in collaboration with SMC as its exclusive commercial partner, has signed an agreement with Diriyah Company to sponsor the Saudi Super Cup tournament for the second consecutive year. The event, now officially named the Diriyah Saudi Super Cup, is set to take place in Abha from August 13 to 17, featuring four of the nation's top football clubs: Al Hilal, Al Nassr, Al Ahly, and Al Taawoun.

The renewed partnership between SAFF and Diriyah Company follows the success of the previous edition, which was held in Abu Dhabi from April 8 to 11. That tournament saw Al Hilal emerge victorious, cementing the competition's reputation as a key fixture in the Saudi sports calendar.

Diriyah Company Group CEO, Jerry Inzerillo, emphasized that the growing popularity of Saudi football and its top teams was the driving force behind renewing the sponsorship. "Our commitment to the Diriyah Saudi Super Cup reflects the immense marketing opportunities in sports, especially with the participation of international players and the high level of competition," Inzerillo stated. He further highlighted Diriyah Company’s ongoing efforts to leverage the appeal of sports to promote tourism and cultural heritage in Saudi Arabia.

Ibrahim Al Kassim, Secretary General of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, echoed these sentiments, noting that the successful collaboration during the previous tournament has set the stage for this renewed partnership. Al Kassim emphasized that this agreement aligns with SAFF's broader goals under Saudi Vision 2030, which include creating investment opportunities, boosting revenues, and diversifying income sources for the Kingdom.

"We are proud of the continued sponsorship by Diriyah Company," said Al Kassim. "This partnership not only enhances the visibility of Saudi Arabia's cultural, heritage, and tourism destinations but also showcases the Kingdom's growing support and advancements in sports."

SMC CEO, Khalid bin Waleed AlKhudair, expressed pride in renewing the partnership, underscoring SMC’s commitment to enhancing Saudi Arabia's sports landscape and elevating its international stature in line with Vision 2030. "The success of the previous edition has solidified the Saudi Super Cup's status as one of the region's premier sporting events. Our collaboration with Diriyah is a testament to our dedication to providing an exceptional sports experience that mirrors the Kingdom's significant progress across various sectors," AlKhudair added.

The partnership is a cornerstone of the Diriyah Masterplan, which aims to boost investment and growth in the sports industry by sponsoring and organizing various events, including Formula E races, equestrian competitions, tennis tournaments, and boxing championships. This initiative seeks to position Diriyah as a top tourist destination, renowned for its rich heritage, cultural significance, and historical importance. The project also aims to introduce sustainable initiatives rooted in tradition, offering a new lifestyle that appeals to both residents and tourists alike.

Through this collaboration, Diriyah Company and SAFF are not only promoting sports but also showcasing the Kingdom’s unique cultural and historical landscape, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s vision of becoming a global sports and tourism hub.
