Egypt Condemns Israel’s Decision to Halt Humanitarian Aid to Gaza

Cairo, March 4, 2025 – Egypt has strongly condemned the Israeli government’s decision to block humanitarian aid from entering the Gaza Strip and to shut down all crossings designated for relief operations, calling the move a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.

In a statement issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigration on Sunday, Cairo denounced the measures, describing them as a breach of the ceasefire agreement, the Fourth Geneva Convention, and fundamental principles of international law.

"There is no justification or logic that permits the use of starvation and siege as weapons against innocent civilians, especially during the holy month of Ramadan," the statement read.

Egypt called on the international community to take immediate action against these inhumane measures, urging global powers to stop illegal practices that endanger civilian lives and condemn any attempts to use collective punishment to achieve political goals.

The closure of humanitarian crossings further exacerbates the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, where civilians are in dire need of food, water, and medical supplies amid prolonged conflict. Egypt has been a key advocate for sustained humanitarian access, facilitating aid deliveries through the Rafah crossing and advocating for an immediate and lasting ceasefire.
