PARIS, France, January 30, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Grand Slam champion Emma Raducanu has been awarded the final wildcard spot for the qualifiers at this year’s Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open, allowing fans to witness the British star in action for free on the opening day of the tournament.

The prestigious WTA 500 event, now in its third edition, will take place from February 1st to 8th at the International Tennis Centre, Zayed Sports City, drawing some of the world’s best female tennis players to the UAE capital for an electrifying competition.

The addition of Emma Raducanu, 22, strengthens an already impressive line-up, marking her return to Abu Dhabi for the second consecutive year. Raducanu, a fan-favorite in the Middle East, enjoyed fantastic support at last year’s tournament. She delivered a stellar performance in the Round of 32, defeating Marie Bouzkova, before bowing out to Ons Jabeur in the last 16.

Raducanu’s rise to prominence came in 2021, when she captured the world’s attention by winning the US Open at just 18 years old. Entering as a qualifier, she made history by clinching the title without dropping a single set, defeating top players such as Belinda Bencic and Maria Sakkari on her way to the final.

In a memorable showdown, she secured victory with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Leylah Fernandez, a competitor she may face once again in Abu Dhabi.

With Raducanu’s inclusion, anticipation for the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open has skyrocketed. Tennis enthusiasts will have the unique opportunity to watch the British star on the opening day at no cost, further adding to the tournament’s appeal.

The Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open continues to establish itself as a premier event on the WTA calendar, and with an exceptional roster of talent, the 2024 edition promises to be an unforgettable showcase of world-class tennis.
