ABU DHABI, March 14 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Etihad Airways has officially opened bookings for flights to Medan, the capital of North Sumatra, Indonesia, marking its latest expansion into Southeast Asia.

The airline announced that flights between Kualanamu International Airport (KNO) in Medan and Zayed International Airport (AUH) in Abu Dhabi will commence on October 2, 2025. The route will be operated three times a week using Etihad’s new A321LR aircraft, offering enhanced comfort and efficiency for travelers.

Medan serves as a key gateway to North Sumatra’s natural and cultural attractions, including Lake Toba, the largest volcanic lake in the world, and the region’s diverse rainforests and wildlife.

This expansion is part of Etihad’s ongoing network growth, with Medan being one of 14 new destinations announced this year. The airline has indicated that further route additions are expected in the coming months.

The new route strengthens Etihad Airways' presence in Indonesia, where it already serves Jakarta and Bali, and reinforces its role in boosting connectivity between the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
