Global Cybersecurity Forum 2024 Opens in Riyadh, Focusing on Collective Action in Cyberspace

Riyadh, October 1, 2024 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The fourth edition of the Global Cybersecurity Forum (GCF) Annual Meeting began today in Riyadh, under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The event gathers high-level international figures, including former prime ministers, government ministers, policymakers, CEOs, and thought leaders from over 125 countries to address pressing issues in cyberspace and foster global collaboration.

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud welcomed attendees on behalf of King Salman, emphasizing Saudi Arabia's commitment to fostering international cooperation. “The Kingdom has continuously worked to uphold the principle of cooperation, strengthening global efforts toward development and prosperity for all nations,” said His Royal Highness. He stressed the vital role of cyberspace in economic growth, societal prosperity, individual security, and national stability, urging unified international efforts to harness the opportunities of cyberspace and tackle its challenges.

Crown Prince Mohammed also highlighted two major initiatives launched by the Kingdom in 2020: one aimed at protecting children in cyberspace, and the other focused on empowering women in the field of cybersecurity. He underscored the progress of these initiatives, including the development of new frameworks and strategies that have guided global policies on child protection and women’s participation in cybersecurity.

In a significant announcement, His Royal Highness launched the Child Protection in Cyberspace Global Summit, the first global summit of its kind, hosted by Saudi Arabia. The summit aims to unite international efforts to respond to the growing threats facing children online.

This year’s GCF Annual Meeting, themed "Advancing Collective Action in Cyberspace," features discussions among decision-makers, senior officials, and international experts from government, academia, and industry. The event will explore five key themes: Beyond Cyber Discord, Cyber Psychology, Cyber Social Fabric, Thriving Cyber Economy, and New Cyber Frontier. The forum seeks to drive impactful initiatives, promote cybersecurity advancements, and foster a secure and prosperous global cyberspace.

As the event unfolds, global stakeholders will collaborate on shaping a safer, more reliable cyberspace that promotes growth and prosperity for all.
