H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Meets ADEK’s Khotwa Scholarship Programme Students

H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, recently held a meeting with students from the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge’s (ADEK) Khotwa Scholarship Programme. During this engagement, His Highness underscored the importance of developing and enhancing the talents of UAE National youth across both academic and vocational fields to meet the evolving demands of local and global labor markets.

His Highness emphasized the provision of opportunities for students to complete high-quality education programs at leading academic and vocational institutions worldwide. He urged the Khotwa Scholarship Programme students to embrace their roles as ambassadors of the UAE, encouraging them to act as representatives of the nation's traditions and values. Additionally, His Highness reaffirmed the leadership's commitment to supporting Emirati youth in developing their academic capabilities and honing their technical skills across various sectors.

Launched under the directives of H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in September 2022, ADEK’s Khotwa programme aims to offer higher education opportunities in the United States and Canada to 6,000 Emirati students by 2028. This initiative is designed to enhance students' access to educational opportunities and provide them with new academic horizons. In 2023, the programme expanded its global scholarship partner network by collaborating with prestigious community colleges in Australia and New Zealand.

As of now, Khotwa supports 694 participants, bringing the total number of students enrolled to 1,146 through September 2024. The fully-funded programme equips cohorts with future-ready, globally-appropriate skills and broad educational experiences, empowering them to achieve their full potential and contribute to the growth of the UAE’s knowledge-based economy.

The meeting was attended by numerous current and prospective students of the programme, who highlighted the significant impact of Khotwa in developing skills and enhancing capabilities across both academic and professional sectors.

Following the meeting, the students expressed their profound gratitude to H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the UAE’s leadership for their unwavering support of Emirati youth. They reaffirmed their pride in serving as UAE ambassadors abroad and their commitment to contributing to the nation's development.

This gathering marks a continued commitment to fostering educational excellence and international representation among Emirati youth, aligning with the UAE's broader goals of innovation and global engagement.
