Kuwait Declares Two-Day Public Sector Holiday for New Year
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 9 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Kuwait’s cabinet announced on Sunday a two-day holiday for government institutions to mark the New Year, with closures set for January 1 and 2, 2025.
In a statement, the cabinet said the additional day off on January 2 bridges the New Year holiday, which falls on a Wednesday, with the country’s regular weekend on Friday and Saturday. Government offices will resume operations on Sunday, January 5, 2025.
The decision aligns with similar moves in the Gulf region to extend public holidays, providing citizens and residents with a longer break. The private sector’s adherence to the holiday schedule will be determined independently.
Kuwait is among several Gulf nations offering extended public holidays as part of efforts to promote work-life balance and support local tourism during festive periods.
