Riyadh, April 12 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The Muslim World League (MWL) has issued a strong condemnation of the Israeli occupation government’s decision to close six schools operated by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in occupied Jerusalem. The move, described by the League as part of a series of systematic violations targeting UN institutions, is viewed as a direct assault on international efforts to support the rights and welfare of the Palestinian people.
In an official statement, MWL Secretary-General and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, reaffirmed the League’s full support for UNRWA’s humanitarian mission and its vital role in providing education and services to Palestinian refugees.
Dr. Al-Issa called for unified global action—from nations, international bodies, and individuals alike—to confront what he described as continued Israeli aggression that contravenes established norms of international law and humanitarian principles.
He further emphasized that “every living conscience across the globe must demand an end to the Israeli government’s war machine,” urging immediate international accountability. Dr. Al-Issa warned that global legal frameworks remain “paralyzed” in the face of what he termed a “horrific genocide” against Palestinian civilians that continues in full view of the international community.
The MWL's statement joins a growing chorus of criticism regarding recent actions by Israeli authorities in occupied territories, particularly those that disrupt access to education, healthcare, and humanitarian support provided by international organizations.
UNRWA has yet to issue an official response to the closures, which are expected to affect thousands of Palestinian students and families in the coming weeks.
