NCW Releases 10 Endangered Arabian Sand Gazelles in Al-Zulfi National Park

Riyadh, February 27, 2025 – As part of Saudi Arabia’s environmental sustainability efforts, the National Center for Wildlife (NCW), in collaboration with Al-Zulfi National Park, has successfully released 10 endangered Arabian sand gazelles into their natural habitat. This initiative aligns with the national strategy to reintroduce native species, restore ecological balance, and strengthen biodiversity conservation.
Strengthening Ecosystems and Eco-Tourism
The release is designed to enhance biodiversity, improve the natural ecosystem, and elevate Al-Zulfi National Park’s appeal as a destination for eco-tourism. The park plays a crucial role as a wildlife corridor, connecting protected areas and facilitating the free movement of species within their natural range.
Dr. Mohammed Qurban, NCW CEO, emphasized that such efforts are based on comprehensive biodiversity research, ensuring that conservation strategies are scientifically driven and contribute to the long-term sustainability of wildlife populations.
"The release of Arabian sand gazelles supports thriving ecosystems, enriches biodiversity, and fosters eco-tourism, creating economic opportunities while preserving the Kingdom’s natural heritage," said Dr. Qurban.
Saudi Arabia’s Commitment to Conservation
Saudi Arabia continues to expand its wildlife conservation efforts, with NCW operating advanced research and breeding facilities that adhere to global standards for the reintroduction of endangered species. These initiatives underscore the Kingdom’s dedication to sustainable environmental management and the protection of native wildlife.
