Oman Announces Official Working Hours for Public and Private Sectors During Ramadan 2025

Riyadh, February 26, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The Omani Ministry of Labour has announced the official working hours for public and private sector employees during Ramadan 1446 AH (2025), outlining adjusted schedules to accommodate the holy month.

Public Sector: Five-Hour Workdays with Flexible Options

Government employees will follow a five-hour work schedule, operating from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Where applicable, flexible working hours will be allowed, with start times ranging from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Employees’ working hours will be calculated based on arrival and departure times under an approved mechanism, ensuring at least 50% workplace attendance to maintain operational efficiency.

The Head of Unit in each department has the authority to implement flexible work arrangements, provided they do not disrupt workflow.

Private Sector: Reduced Working Hours for Muslim Employees

For Muslims working in private sector establishments, daily working hours will be reduced to six hours, with a maximum of 30 hours per week.

The Ministry of Labour encourages private sector companies to adopt modern working methods, including flexible hours and remote work, to enhance productivity while accommodating Ramadan observances.

Oman’s adjusted Ramadan work schedules aim to balance professional responsibilities with the spiritual significance of the holy month, ensuring a harmonious and efficient work environment.
