President Putin Sends Condolences on the Passing of Pope Francis

Paris, April 20 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended his condolences following the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis, the Kremlin announced in an official statement on Saturday.

In a message addressed to Cardinal Kevin Joseph Farrell, Camerlengo of the Holy Roman Church, President Putin expressed deep sympathy for the loss of the Pontiff, describing him as a prominent religious leader who played a significant role in fostering dialogue between Russia and the Holy See.

"Please accept my most sincere condolences on the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis," Putin said. "Throughout the years of his pontificate, he actively promoted the development of dialogue between Russia and the Holy See."

The Russian president acknowledged the Pope’s efforts in international religious diplomacy, particularly in advocating for mutual understanding and peace across different faith communities. The two leaders met several times during Pope Francis’s pontificate, engaging in discussions on global affairs, humanitarian concerns, and interfaith cooperation.

"In this sad hour, I would like to convey to you and the entire Catholic clergy my words of sympathy and support," Putin added.

The death of Pope Francis marks the end of a historic papacy, during which he became known for his outreach to marginalized communities, his calls for peace and environmental stewardship, and his efforts to modernize the Catholic Church while maintaining its spiritual foundations.

World leaders have begun sending official condolences, as the Vatican prepares for the coming days of mourning and reflection.
