Madrid, April 10, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz Airport in Madinah has been awarded first place as the Best Regional Airport in the Middle East for 2025, according to the prestigious Skytrax World Airport Awards held on Wednesday in Madrid, Spain.
This marks the fourth time the airport has received the honor, having previously claimed the title in 2020, 2021, and 2024, affirming its growing status as a key aviation hub in the region. The airport has consistently received international and local accolades, maintaining its position among the top global airports in the Skytrax rankings.
Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz Airport also retained its position at number 50 on the list of the World’s Top 100 Airports for 2025, and ranked fifth globally among airports serving between 10 to 20 million passengers annually. Several additional Skytrax awards were also presented to the airport this year, recognizing its commitment to exceptional passenger experience and advanced operational standards.
In 2024, the airport welcomed nearly 12 million passengers, reflecting growing demand and the increasing popularity of its destinations. As part of its ongoing development, the airport will see the construction of a new international terminal covering 53,000 square meters, designed to accommodate 5.5 million passengers annually. Additionally, the expansion of the existing terminal is underway. Upon the completion of Phase Two by the end of 2027, the airport’s capacity is projected to reach 18 million passengers per year.
The Skytrax recognition reinforces the airport’s role as a strategic gateway for travelers, especially for those visiting the Holy City of Madinah, and supports Saudi Arabia’s broader goals under Vision 2030 to elevate the Kingdom’s aviation infrastructure to global standards.
