Probable Start Date for Ramadan 2025 Announced

RIYADH, February 14, 2025 (SAUDI ARABIA BREAKING NEWS) – The International Astronomical Centre has announced the expected start date for Ramadan 2025, with most Islamic countries set to observe the crescent of the holy month on Friday, February 28, 2025.

According to Mohammed Shawkat Odeh, Director of the Centre, the crescent moon may be visible by telescope in certain parts of the Islamic world on that Friday. Given that the lunar conjunction occurs before sunset and the moon sets after sunset in all Islamic regions, it is likely that most countries will declare Saturday, March 1, as the first day of Ramadan 2025.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is a sacred period observed by Muslims worldwide through fasting, prayer, and reflection. The official confirmation of the start of Ramadan 2025 will depend on moon sighting reports from various regions.

Islamic scholars and astronomers will continue monitoring the crescent moon, with final announcements expected closer to the anticipated start date.
