Qassim, April 22 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The Qassim Region Branch of the National Center for Vegetation Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) has successfully documented the birth of an Arabian oryx within the protected grounds of Qassim National Park, marking a significant milestone in the Kingdom’s efforts to conserve endangered native species.

A specialized team from NCVC monitored and recorded all stages of the oryx's birth in a natural, undisturbed environment. The event is considered scientifically rare and highly valuable, providing researchers with vital insights into the reproductive behavior and habitat needs of this endangered desert antelope.

The documentation is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to raise public awareness about wildlife protection and demonstrate the success of ongoing conservation initiatives. The birth of the Arabian oryx in the wild, without direct human intervention, is a key indicator of the effectiveness of national programs designed to restore ecological balance and protect biodiversity.

Saudi Arabia has long held a leadership role in the conservation of the Arabian oryx, a species once driven to the brink of extinction. Since the 1970s, the Kingdom has partnered with international conservation organizations to implement a national recovery program. These efforts have included the creation of protected reserves such as Mahazat as-Sayd and Uruq Bani Ma'arid, captive breeding programs, and the gradual reintroduction of the species into its natural habitats.

These conservation strategies have positioned Saudi Arabia as a global model for wildlife protection and ecological restoration, especially within arid and semi-arid regions.

The NCVC continues to work in alignment with the Kingdom’s environmental sustainability goals under Vision 2030, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s commitment to protecting its natural heritage for future generations
