Red Sea International Film Festival Gears Up for Fourth Edition in Historic Jeddah
Jeddah, November 15 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The Red Sea International Film Festival is set to launch its fourth edition this December in Historic Jeddah’s Al-Balad district, under the theme "The New Home of Film." This theme captures the festival’s dedication to exploring the concept of "home," both literally and symbolically, through a rich selection of films from around the world.
The festival will open with the global premiere of The Tale of Daye’s Family, a joint Egyptian-Saudi production that explores themes of tolerance, ambition, and the power of music to inspire transformation. In the official competition, 16 films will be evaluated by an international jury, with Mahdi Fleifel's To a Land Unknown making its regional premiere.
Other notable premieres include Sima’s Song by Afghan filmmaker Roya Sadat, Superboys of Malegaon by India’s Reema Kagti, and To Kill a Mongolian Horse by Chinese director Xiaoxuan Jiang. The festival’s program will also feature the trailer for Better Man, a biopic on British singer Robbie Williams directed by Michael Gracey, and Modi, Three Days on the Wing of Madness, Johnny Depp’s second directorial effort, focusing on Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani.
Designed to appeal to young audiences and families, this year’s lineup includes the festival’s first musical, Sukkar by Tamer Mahdy, and the animated adventure Panda Bear in Africa by Richard Claus and Karsten Kiilerich. As the festival returns to Jeddah, it promises an immersive experience for film enthusiasts, celebrating cinema’s ability to connect diverse stories and cultures.
