Riyadh Art Program Unveils Artists for 6th Tuwaiq International Sculpture Symposium
Riyadh, Dec. 30 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The Riyadh Art Program has announced the lineup of participating artists for the 6th Tuwaiq International Sculpture Symposium, set to take place at ROSHN Waterfront (RWF) from January 15 to February 8, 2025. This year’s theme, "From Time to Time: The Pleasure of the Journey in Its Difficulties," will guide the creation of public art sculptures using locally sourced stones, celebrating resilience and innovation.
Following the live sculpting period, the completed works will be showcased in an exhibition running from February 12 to 24, 2025.
Launched in 2019, the Tuwaiq International Sculpture Symposium is a flagship project of the Riyadh Art Program. It aims to foster artistic and cultural exchange through partnerships, workshops, panel discussions, and various community activities while integrating artistic practices into Riyadh's evolving cultural landscape.
The selection process for this year’s event drew considerable global interest, with over 750 applications from 80 countries. An independent panel of art and sculpture experts reviewed the submissions and selected 30 artists from 23 countries to participate, highlighting the symposium’s role in enriching Riyadh's cultural fabric.
Curated by architect and artist Sebastián Betancur-Montoya and sculpture specialist Dr. Manal Al-Harbi, the symposium promises a dynamic exchange of ideas and creativity. Betancur-Montoya commented on the theme, stating, “We celebrate the constant challenges faced by artists this year. These challenges are a major source of inspiration, allowing everyone to create a legacy that bridges the past, present, and future in innovative and humane ways.”
The Tuwaiq International Sculpture Symposium continues to position Riyadh as a global cultural hub, showcasing artistic talent while honoring the rich heritage and forward-looking vision of Saudi Arabia.
