Riyadh, February 26, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The Board of Directors of the Sports Boulevard Foundation, led by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has announced the opening of the first phase of the Sports Boulevard project in Riyadh. This major milestone includes five key destinations, bringing the total completed length of the project to 83 km, with overall progress reaching 40%.
The first phase features Wadi Hanifah, the Promenade, the intersection at Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Road and Prince Turki bin Abdulaziz Al-Awwal Road, the internal loop at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, and the first phase of Sands Sports Park. These developments mark a significant step toward positioning Riyadh among the world’s most livable cities, in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
A Vision for an Active and Sustainable Riyadh
The Sports Boulevard project was launched by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz on March 19, 2019, with the unwavering support of HRH the Crown Prince. The initiative aims to enhance the city’s global ranking, promote physical, mental, and social well-being, and foster a healthier, more active lifestyle for residents and visitors.
The project serves as an urban artery connecting Riyadh from west to east, offering sports facilities, green spaces, and pedestrian-friendly environments. By integrating sustainable urban development with recreational and sports infrastructure, the initiative redefines outdoor living in the capital.
