Saudi Arabia Allocates $7.8 Billion For Riyadh Expo 2030





PARIS, France - Saudi Arabia has announced its bid to host the World Expo 2030 in Riyadh, the capital of the city of the Kingdom. The Saudi delegation presented its candidacy file to the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) members at the organization's 172 General Assembly held in Paris on Tuesday. The Saudi file, titled "Together for a Foresighted Tomorrow", focuses on technology, innovation, sustainability, and global cooperation.


The Saudi bit for Expo 2030 is represented by a logo that illustrates a palm tree, a symbol of life and prosperity in the desert. Each frond of the palm tree symbolizes six key elements and themes of the Expo: nature, architecture, art, technology, science, and tradition. These elements converge to present the proposed theme of "Together for a Foresighted Tomorrow". The logo was sculpted by Saudi artist Wafaa Al-Qunbit and revealed at the Expo site in Riyadh.



Expo 2030


The World Expo is a global event that showcases the achievements and aspirations of different countries and cultures. It is held every five years in a different city and lasts for six months. The Expo attracts millions of visitors who can explore the pavilions of participating countries and learn about their history, culture, and vision for the future.


The theme of Expo 2030 is "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future", which reflects the need for collaboration and innovation to address the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century. The sub-themes are opportunity, mobility, and sustainability, which cover various aspects of social, economic, and environmental development.


The Saudi bid for Expo 2030 aims to provide equal exhibition spaces for all participating countries and to offer a support package of $343 million to help 100 countries in areas such as pavilion construction, maintenance, technical support, travel, and events. The kingdom also plans to work with its leading partners worldwide and private sector companies to develop more support programs.


In his speech at the BIE General Assembly, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, stated that Expo 2030 presents an opportunity to promote work on projects with a global impact and to cooperate in finding global solutions to common challenges through innovation sustainability, and inclusivity. He also said that these values lie at the heart of the Riyadh Expo 2030 bid.


Riyadh


Riyadh is the largest city in Saudi Arabia and the political, economic, and cultural center of the Kingdom. It is also one of the fastest-growing cities in the world, with a population of over 8 million people and a GDP of over $200 billion. Riyadh has undergone significant changes and developments since the launch of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the economy, empower society, and enhance the quality of life.


The Saudi government has allocated $7.8 billion worth of investments for Expo 2030, which will be part of its border investment plans in Riyadh. The Kingdom targets national-level investments of over $3.3 trillion by the end of the decade, with at least 30% allocated to Riyadh. The Expo site will be located in Al-Ma'ather district, near King Khalid International Airport, and will cover an areas of 5 square kilometers. The site will feature a central plaza, a convention center, an exhibition hall, a cultural center, a media center, and various pavilions.


The Expo site will also showcase the latest technologies and innovations that Saudi Arabia has to offer, such as smart city solutions, renewable energy sources, artificial intelligence applications, biotechnology products, and cultural heritage preservation. The site also host various events and activities that will highlight the diversity and creativity of Saudi society and culture.


Minister of Investment Eng. Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al - Falih explained that the exhibition budget amounts to $7.8 billion, motivating the Saudi broader investment plans in Riyadh. He also said that this comes as part of Saudi Vision 2030, which targets national-level investments of over $3.3. trillion by the end of the decade.


Princess Reema Bint Bandar Bin Sultan Bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Ambassador to the United States of America, said that Saudi ambition is very high, and its achievements are even more significant. She also said that Riyadh is ready to host Expo 2030 and to welcome 40 million visitors who will experience a unique blend of cultures and various pavilions.
