Riyadh, October 18, 2024 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – In a significant step toward fostering cultural exchange and cooperation, the Saudi Museums Commission, under the Ministry of Culture, has signed an Executive Program with the Shanghai Museum during Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud’s visit to China. This collaboration builds on the Memorandum of Understanding on Cultural Cooperation signed earlier this year on March 27 in Beijing, which aims to deepen cultural relations between Saudi Arabia and China.

The new Executive Program sets out several key areas of cooperation to be implemented over the coming years:

  1. Long-Term Loan of Artworks and Archaeological CollectionsAs part of the agreement, Saudi Arabia will receive long-term loans of Chinese artworks and archaeological collections to be displayed in museums across the Kingdom. These pieces will offer Saudi audiences insights into China’s rich cultural heritage and history.

  2. “Art of the Kingdom” Exhibition in ShanghaiSaudi Arabia will showcase the "Art of the Kingdom" (Fan Al Mamlaka) exhibition at the Shanghai Museum, bringing contemporary Saudi art to Chinese audiences. The exhibition will feature works that reflect Saudi Arabia’s evolving cultural landscape, introducing Chinese visitors to the Kingdom’s unique art scene.

  3. Exploration of Future Cooperation OpportunitiesBoth sides also agreed to explore additional areas for cultural collaboration. This joint effort will seek to expand their cultural exchange programs, supporting the development of projects that reflect the nations' shared dedication to cultural dialogue and growth.

The Executive Program marks a new milestone in Saudi-Chinese cultural relations, underscoring the mutual commitment to celebrating and sharing their vibrant cultural legacies. Through this partnership, both nations aim to foster greater understanding and create lasting cultural connections that benefit their citizens and enrich the global arts community.
