RIYADH (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Saudi Arabia has announced plans to localize rose cultivation and production to meet rising domestic demand, create new jobs in the agricultural sector, and address the high costs and lower quality associated with imported roses.

 

The move aims to expand the Kingdom’s presence in regional markets, opening up export opportunities for Saudi-grown roses in Gulf and Middle Eastern countries. This initiative aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, which emphasizes economic diversification and agricultural sector growth.

 

The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture has outlined several incentives to support rose cultivation. These include financial return that strengthen the economic position of local rose producers. Among the key incentives is the successful adoption of tissue culture techniques, which improve cultivation while reducing production costs.

 

The further support this initiative, the ministry is offering suitable agricultural land for rose projects at favorable rates and investment opportunities that capitalize on the comparative advantages of rose farming. Additionally, loans from the Agricultural Development Fund are available, covering up to 70% of project costs.

 

Technical support for rose cultivation and the automation of licensing processes are also part of the ministry’s efforts to streamline production. It highlighted the potential of using modern technologies, such as hydroponic farming and smart systems, to reduce production and labor costs.

 

The ministry also emphasized the possibility of cultivating rare rose varieties, which are in high demand and could significantly increase economic return for producers. The localization strategy is expect to contribute to the overall growth of agricultural sector in Saudi Arabia.
