Saudi Arabia Calls for De-escalation in Middle East Amid Rising Tensions

Riyadh, October 1, 2024 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Saudi Arabia is advocating for de-escalation and dialogue in response to the increasing tensions in the Middle East, following Iran’s missile attack on Israel. Speaking at a conference in Berlin on Wednesday, Saudi Economy Minister Faisal Al-Ibrahim expressed the Kingdom’s hopes for peaceful resolution amid the growing regional conflict.

Al-Ibrahim described the escalation as "unfortunate" and difficult to avoid discussing. “We hope that wisdom will prevail, de-escalation will happen, dialogue will come into place, and more collaboration will be seen globally, but also regionally, for us to address these challenges,” he said.

Fears of a wider regional war involving Iran and the United States have intensified as Israel’s assault on Lebanon has escalated over the past two weeks, including the launch of a ground operation on Monday. The conflict has further heightened concerns, as Israel continues its year-old military operations in the Gaza Strip.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed responsibility for the missile attack on Israel, describing it as retaliation for the Israeli targeting of militant leaders and strikes on Hezbollah and Hamas positions in Lebanon.

Saudi Arabia, while calling for calm, continues to monitor the situation closely as tensions in the region grow.
