Osaka, April 14, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Steering Committee for the Kingdom's Participation in International Expos, Prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Farhan, officially opened the Saudi pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka on Sunday. Marking a major moment in Saudi Arabia’s cultural diplomacy, the pavilion—second in size only to that of the host nation—invites global visitors to explore the Kingdom’s storied past, dynamic present, and forward-looking future.
The launch ceremony was attended by Vice Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Executive Committee for the Kingdom's Participation in International Expos Hamed Fayez, Assistant Minister of Culture Rakan Al-Touq, Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Japan and General Commissioner for the Pavilion, Ghazi Faisal Binzagr, and a number of cultural officials and diplomatic representatives.
The first day of the international exposition saw the Saudi flag raised in Osaka, with Prince Bader delivering a keynote address during the official opening of the Kingdom’s pavilion. “We are delighted to inaugurate the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, which operates under the slogan 'Discover Saudi Arabia,’” he said. “Through the pavilion’s ambitious design, we highlight the many shared qualities and harmony between the Kingdom and Japan.”
The minister extended his thanks to the Japanese government for its strong support and organizational excellence. “We express our gratitude for Japan’s warm hospitality and its unwavering cooperation in ensuring the success of the Kingdom’s presence at this global event,” Prince Bader said. He further noted that the pavilion’s launch coincides with the celebration of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Japan, symbolizing the strength of bilateral ties.
The Saudi pavilion, designed by Foster + Partners, offers an immersive, multi-sensory journey that showcases the Kingdom’s transformational path under Vision 2030. Constructed from lightweight Saudi stone, the structure reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to sustainable urban development and technological progress, while celebrating its deep-rooted cultural identity.
The pavilion experience enables visitors to engage with Saudi cities and villages through innovative spatial storytelling, emphasizing the Kingdom’s ambition to build inclusive, empowered communities while remaining open to the world.
Expo 2025 Osaka runs until October 13 and provides an international platform for dialogue, innovation, and cultural exchange. The Saudi pavilion stands as a prominent representation of the Kingdom’s cultural evolution and global vision.
