Riyadh, October 1, 2024 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Saudi Arabia has taken a significant step forward in its efforts to nurture young athletic talent with the inauguration of the first Government Sports School for Talented Athletes at the middle school level. The groundbreaking initiative was launched by Minister of Sport Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal and Minister of Education Yousef Al-Benyan during a ceremony held at the Mahd Sports Academy headquarters in the Prince Faisal bin Fahad Olympic Complex in Riyadh.

The newly inaugurated school represents a key collaboration between the Ministry of Sport, Ministry of Education, and Mahd Sports Academy, further strengthening the Kingdom’s commitment to fostering young talent in sports. The school will provide students with both academic education and specialized sports training, offering a comprehensive environment for young athletes to thrive.

Abdullah bin Faisal Hammad, President of Mahd Sports Academy, delivered a speech highlighting the academy’s achievements since its establishment in 2021. He emphasized that the new school will build on these accomplishments by offering students world-class training and education. The initiative aims to mold these talented individuals into role models within the sports sector, equipping them with the skills and ambition to achieve championships and titles in future competitions.

Hammad also revealed that 354 students specializing in football, athletics, and martial arts have been enrolled in the first phase of the program. He noted the academy’s ambitious goal to identify and nurture 1 million young talents across various sports. The Mahd Sports Academy is positioning itself as a global leader in talent discovery, with plans to further advance through its research and innovation center.

A key aspect of the academy’s work is its collaboration with the Ministry of Education, including the Tamheed program, which provides physical and technical assessments for students in public schools. This program has already gathered data on nearly 500,000 students, helping the academy pinpoint and develop promising young athletes.

The inauguration of the Government Sports School for Talented Athletes marks a milestone in Saudi Arabia's mission to become a leader in sports on the global stage, while also aligning with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 objectives.
