Saudi Arabia Reaffirms Support for Sudan Amid Crisis: Participates in UN Dialogue


PARIS - In a decisive move underscoring its solidarity with the Republic of Sudan during its current challenges, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reiterated its unwavering support at an interactive dialogue held by the Human Rights Council yesterday. Abdulmohsen Majed Bin Khothaila, Saudi Arabia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, conveyed the Kingdom's concerns regarding the ongoing military operations in Sudan and the resultant humanitarian distress.


During his statement to the Human Rights Council, Bin Khothaila emphasized the critical need to resume dialogue as a means to achieve a political resolution and prevent further escalation into conflict. He stressed the importance of protecting civilians, humanitarian workers, and vital infrastructure in Sudan. The Kingdom reaffirmed its support for an intra-Sudanese political solution that respects Sudan's unity, sovereignty, and national institutions.

Highlighting Saudi Arabia's proactive role in regional diplomacy, Bin Khothaila noted the Kingdom's hosting of the Jeddah talks aimed at stabilizing a ceasefire and facilitating a comprehensive resolution to the Sudanese crisis. These efforts are geared towards enabling Sudan to restore security and stability, paving the way for a prosperous future.


Saudi Arabia's engagement at the Human Rights Council underscores its commitment to fostering peace and stability in Sudan and the broader region, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation to address humanitarian and political challenges effectively.
