Saudi Arabia Rejects Calls For Forced Displacement Of Palestinians From Gaza

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has expressed its absolute rejection of the calls for the forced displacement of the Palestinian people from Gaza, and it condemned the continued targeting of defenseless civilians there by the Israeli forces.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday, the Kingdom renewed its call to the international community to immediately move to stop all forms of military escalation against civilians, prevent a humanitarian catastrophe, and provide the necessary relief and medical needs for the residents of Gaza.

The statement stressed that depriving the Palestinians of basic needs for a decent life is a violation of international humanitarian law and will exacerbate the gravity of the crisis and the suffering in the region.

The ministry said that the Kingdom called for lifting the siege on Gaza, evacuating injured civilians, adhering to international laws and norms and international humanitarian law, and advancing the peace process per the resolutions of the UN Security Council and the Arab Peace Initiative, which aims to find a just and comprehensive solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The statement came amid a wave of violence that erupted in Jerusalem and Gaza since Monday, following weeks of tensions over Israeli restrictions to Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and plans to evict Palestinian families from Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood.
