Saudi Arabia's Bid to Host FIFA World Cup 2034 Endorsed by Crown Prince

His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has officially endorsed Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the FIFA World Cup 2034™. This significant endorsement was made following the completion of the bid’s detailed requirements, which are set to be submitted to FIFA in a comprehensive bid book. The submission will take place in Paris, led by HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal Al Saud, Minister of Sport and President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, alongside Yasser Al Misehal, President of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF).

Marking this milestone, HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal Al Saud expressed deep appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the Crown Prince for their unwavering support and guidance towards the sports sector. He noted that this backing has positioned Saudi Arabia as a global hub for sports during a period of remarkable growth and transformation.

"We are committed to hosting an exceptional edition of the FIFA World Cup™ featuring 48 teams in a single country for the first time in the competition's history," stated HRH Prince Abdulaziz. "The Crown Prince’s direct supervision of our ambitions to host this iconic global event highlights his dedication to advancing Saudi sport in line with Vision 2030. This will help nurture a generation of athletes capable of competing at the highest global stage. We will continue to showcase to the world our nation’s transformation across all sectors, our vibrant youth, and our capacity to host the world’s biggest sporting events."

The official bid book submission will be part of a ceremony organized by FIFA in Paris. The delegation, led by HRH Prince Abdulaziz and Yasser Al Misehal, will include two children from the SAFF youth regional training centres, symbolizing the aspirations of Saudi Arabia’s younger generation to host the world's most prestigious football event.

The bid journey for the FIFA World Cup 2034™ began on October 4, 2023, when the Saudi Arabian Football Federation announced its intention to bid. This was followed by the submission of an official letter of intent to FIFA and the unveiling of the bid brand identity under the slogan ‘Growing. Together.’ The bid period will conclude in December this year, when FIFA will announce the host nation during a General Assembly meeting.

Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the FIFA World Cup 2034™ reflects the Kingdom’s strategic vision to elevate its global sporting profile and foster the development of sports as part of its broader socio-economic transformation agenda.
