Madrid, April 24 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information (GEOSA) has been awarded the prestigious Global Geospatial Leadership Award at the Geospatial World Forum 2025, held in Madrid, Spain from April 22 to 25. The recognition places GEOSA among the world’s leading government institutions in the field of geospatial information.

The award was presented during a formal ceremony attended by Saudi Ambassador to Spain Princess Haifa bint Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf and GEOSA President Dr. Mohammed bin Yahya Al Sayel.

The Geospatial World Forum, organized annually by Geospatial World, is a global platform that has been convening key players from government, industry, and academia since 2007 to advance the understanding and application of geospatial technologies. Its leadership awards are selected by a jury of international experts and are considered among the highest recognitions in the geospatial community.

GEOSA’s unanimous selection reflects Saudi Arabia’s growing international leadership in the geospatial sector, supported by the vision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The award also highlights the strategic guidance of Prince Khalid bin Salman, Minister of Defense and Chairman of GEOSA’s Board of Directors.

This global recognition underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to developing national geospatial infrastructure, governing data policy in line with international standards, and driving forward innovation through the integration of geospatial data with artificial intelligence and smart decision-making systems.

As the national regulator of the geospatial sector, GEOSA plays a critical role in shaping the Kingdom’s spatial data environment, setting technical standards, and ensuring interoperability across sectors. The Authority’s achievements in research, infrastructure development, and policy leadership continue to position Saudi Arabia at the forefront of global geospatial advancement in support of Vision 2030.
