RIYADH, March 19 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — The Transport General Authority (TGA) has intensified its inspection campaigns targeting foreign trucks operating illegally within Saudi Arabia, as part of its efforts to enforce land transport regulations and ensure fair competition in the sector.
TGA inspection teams seized 25 foreign trucks found transporting goods between Saudi cities without proper authorization. Each violation resulted in an immediate truck impoundment and a SAR10,000 fine. In Riyadh, 86 inspections uncovered 24 violations, while in Jeddah, one violation was recorded out of eight inspections, the authority reported.
The TGA reiterated its zero-tolerance stance toward regulatory breaches, warning that repeat offenders will face escalating penalties. First-time violations carry a fine of SAR10,000 and a 15-day impoundment. A second violation doubles the fine to SAR20,000 and extends the impoundment to 30 days. Subsequent offenses escalate sharply, with third violations resulting in SAR40,000 fines and 60-day impoundments, fourth offenses at SAR80,000 and 60 days, and fifth offenses at SAR160,000 and 60 days, with the possibility of permanent truck confiscation.
These inspection campaigns, carried out across the Kingdom, are part of the authority’s broader mandate to strengthen transportation oversight and protect the interests of the national carrier.
The enforcement efforts align with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aims to enhance the efficiency, competitiveness, and regulatory compliance of the transport sector both locally and internationally.
