Saudi Arabia Scraps Hotel Licensing Fees to Boost Tourism Sector

Saudi Arabia announced on Wednesday that it would cancel fees for issuing commercial activity licenses for hotels, hotel apartments, and residential resorts, according to the state news agency SPA. The move, effective from September 4, is part of the kingdom’s broader efforts to enhance its tourism sector under the Tourism Investment Enabler Program launched in March.

“This decision comes in line with the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 to make Saudi one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the world,” SPA reported. The initiative aims to attract more investment into tourism, boosting the industry's contribution to the country’s GDP.

Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia’s long-term plan to diversify its economy and reduce dependence on oil revenues, has allocated over $800 billion to modernize the kingdom, with tourism being a key focus of this strategy.
