Riyadh, October 20, 2024 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The Ministry of Sport announced on Friday evening that Saudi Arabia will host the Spanish Super Cup football competitions for the fifth time. The tournament will take place at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah from January 8 to 12, 2025.

The knockout competition will feature four top Spanish football clubs: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Athletic Bilbao, and Real Mallorca. The first semi-final, set for January 8, will see Real Madrid face Real Mallorca, while Barcelona will play Athletic Bilbao the following day. The winners of each match will compete in the final on January 12.

Saudi Arabia has successfully hosted four previous editions of the Spanish Super Cup. In 2020, Real Madrid claimed the title after defeating Atlético Madrid in a thrilling final. The second edition in Riyadh saw Real Madrid win again in 2022. Barcelona emerged victorious in the third edition, while Real Madrid lifted the trophy in Riyadh earlier this year.

The Kingdom’s hosting of the Spanish Super Cup, as part of the Quality of Life Program, underscores Saudi Arabia’s ability to attract major international sporting events. This initiative aligns with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to expand and enhance the sports sector in the Kingdom.
