Saudi Arabia Unveils Program for Fourth Saudi Green Initiative Forum

Riyadh, December 2, 2024 – The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia today announced the program for the fourth Saudi Green Initiative (SGI) Forum, set to take place from December 3-4, 2024, in Riyadh. Coinciding with the 16th session of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP16), the forum will bring together global leaders, climate experts, government officials, and industry CEOs under the theme “Action is in Our Nature.”


The forum’s agenda features ministerial discussions, keynote addresses, panel discussions, and thought-provoking dialogues with prominent leaders. Confirmed speakers include:


  • Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud, Minister of Energy

  • Macky Sall, President of Senegal

  • Adel Al-Jubeir, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Climate Envoy

  • Amin Nasser, President & CEO of Saudi Aramco

  • Angela Wilkinson, Secretary General & CEO of the World Energy Council

  • Patrick Pouyanné, CEO & Chairman of the Board at TotalEnergies

  • François Jackow, CEO of Air Liquide

  • Dr. Grethel Aguilar, Director General of the IUCN


Experts from multilateral and environmental organizations, including the World Bank and the Convention on Wetlands, will also provide their insights, enhancing the forum’s comprehensive approach to climate action.

Running daily during UNCCD COP16 (except December 3-4), the SGI Pavilion in the Green Zone offers an engaging, educational journey through five zones showcasing the Kingdom’s efforts in:

  • Reducing emissions

  • Growing 10 billion trees

  • Protecting nature

  • Promoting sustainability

  • Building a sustainable future


A newly introduced Kids Zone aims to inspire the next generation of environmental champions.


SGI Talks Return


Following their success at COP28, SGI Talks will feature daily 30-minute sessions with climate experts from December 5-13 at 3:00 pm. Topics will include renewable energy innovations, sustainable land use, and youth empowerment in climate action, fostering dialogue on cutting-edge sustainability trends.


The SGI Forum continues to underscore Saudi Arabia’s leadership in advancing climate resilience and sustainability, reflecting its Vision 2030 goals for a greener, more sustainable future.
