Saudi Budget Airline Flyadeal Increases Weekly Flights To Cairo


Flyadeal, the budget carrier of the Saudi Airline Group, has announced that it will more than double its weekly flights to Cairo from 28 to 71, starting from June 15. The airline will add new flight services from various airports in Saudi Arabia to the Egyptian capital, in a bid to strengthen its presence in the Egyptian market.


The budget airline will operate 28 flights per week from Jeddah. The carrier will also operate 10 flights per week from Damman, and Madinah to Cairo starting from September 14. The new flight services will provide a distinct and affordable option for air travel to citizens, residents and pilgrims, and contribute to increasing travel and strengthening cooperation between the two countries, the airline said.


Con Korviatis, CEO of Flyadeal, said the network expansion will take the airline's daily flight to Cairo to 12 flights a day. He said Flyadeal's air traffic to Cairo increased 153 percent during the first quarter of the current year over the same year-ago period, becoming the largest economic air operator between the two countries. He also indicated that the carrier intends to operate summer flights to Sharm El-Sheikh, its second stop in Egypt, for the second year in a row. It plans to operate 3 flights per week starting from Jeddah, from next June 22.


This will in conjunction with the launch of its other seasonal destinations that were announced recently, including Antalya, Izmir, Trabzon, and Bodrum in Turkey, Tbilisi in Georgia, Baku in Azerbaijan, Sarajevo in Bosnia, Heraklion, and Rhodos in Greece, Lamarca in Cyprus, and Tivar in the Republic of Montenegro.


Cairo is the third destination served by Flyadeal, which initially will operate two daily flights to and from Riyadh. It brings to 16 the number destinations on the airline's expanding network.


Flyadeal is a low-cost Saudi airline that was established in 2016 as a subsidiary of Saudi Arabian Airlines Corporation. It operates a fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft and offers a variety of travel options at competitive prices.
