Saudi Crown Prince Condemns Israeli Actions in Gaza and Lebanon at Arab-Islamic Summit
Riyadh, November 11 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman condemned Israel's "collective genocide" against Palestinians in Gaza and its military operations in Lebanon during the opening of the Extraordinary Arab and Islamic Summit in Riyadh. Addressing regional leaders, the Crown Prince reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's support for the people of Palestine and Lebanon amidst escalating Israeli offensives.
"The Kingdom renews its condemnation and categorical rejection of the collective genocide that Israel is committing against the Palestinians," the Crown Prince declared. He emphasized that Israel's continued aggression impedes the Palestinian people from realizing their legitimate rights and undermines peace efforts in the region.
Concerning Lebanon, where Israeli ground and aerial operations have intensified, Crown Prince Mohammed condemned the attacks and voiced Saudi Arabia’s opposition to threats against Lebanon’s stability. “We condemn the Israeli military operations that targeted Lebanese territories and reject threats to Lebanon’s security and stability,” he added.
The Crown Prince called on the international community to act immediately to halt Israeli actions, urging for a concerted effort to preserve international peace and security. He also stressed the importance of respecting Iran's sovereignty in the region, amid rising tensions between Israel and Iran.
The summit convened against the backdrop of Israel’s expanding military fronts in Gaza and Lebanon. The Gaza conflict erupted after a large-scale Hamas attack on southern Israel on October 7 of the previous year, which led to over 1,200 Israeli casualties, primarily civilians. According to Gaza’s health ministry, Israel's retaliatory campaign has since claimed over 43,600 lives in the Palestinian territories, with most casualties reported as civilians.
Hezbollah’s involvement escalated following the Gaza attack, with cross-border hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah intensifying in recent months as Israel expanded its airstrikes and ground operations in southern Lebanon.
Speaking at the summit, Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit echoed calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon. He referenced U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s recent campaign promises to end the conflict, hoping that Trump’s administration might fulfill these commitments to peace.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry had announced the summit last month, marking a united regional response aimed at supporting Palestinian and Lebanese civilians, strengthening Arab and Islamic unity, and urging the international community to work toward peace and stability in the region.
