Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Receives Indonesian President Joko Widodo in Riyadh

His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, extended a warm welcome to Indonesian President Joko Widodo during an official reception ceremony held at the Royal Court within Al Yamamah Palace in Riyadh.


The visit of President Joko Widodo was marked by a significant official discussion session between His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and the Indonesian President. During this diplomatic meeting, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed his warm reception of President Joko Widodo, who reciprocated with expressions of happiness at the opportunity to visit Riyadh and meet with the Crown Prince.


The meeting between the two leaders proved to be a platform for in-depth discussions regarding the current status of bilateral relations. Both sides explored opportunities for further collaboration across various sectors and outlined strategies to develop and enhance their partnership. Their dialogue extended to a comprehensive analysis of the most recent regional and international developments and the ongoing efforts dedicated to addressing them. Furthermore, a range of subjects of mutual interest was broached and discussed.


The visit culminated with the signing of several bilateral agreements, symbolizing the commitment of both nations to strengthen their ties. The key agreements signed during this diplomatic encounter include:

  1. The Saudi-Indonesian Supreme Coordination Council Agreement, inked on behalf of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah and representing Indonesia by Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi.

  2. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in youth and sports, duly signed by Saudi Minister of Sports, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz, and the Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports, Ario Bimo Nandito.

  3. A technical cooperation program spanning various standardization fields, formally ratified by Saudi Minister of Commerce, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, and the Indonesian Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan.

  4. A Memorandum of Understanding for the cooperation in ensuring the quality of halal products, ceremoniously sealed by the CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, Dr. Hisham bin Saad Al-Jadhey, and the CEO of the Halal Products Guarantee Agency, Muhammad Aqil Irham, representing Indonesia.

The meeting and the subsequent signing ceremony were attended by a distinguished assembly of Saudi officials, underlining the gravity of the occasion. The distinguished attendees included Minister of State and Member of the Cabinet, Prince Turki bin Mohammed bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz; Minister of Interior, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz; Minister of the National Guard, Prince Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz; Minister of Defense, Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz; Minister of Culture, Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan; Minister of Finance, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan; Minister of Investment, Eng. Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih; Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Eng. Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef; Minister of Economy and Planning, Faisal bin Fadel Al-Ibrahim; Advisor at the Royal Court, Mohammed bin Mazyad Al-Tuwaijri; Governor of the Public Investment Fund, Yasir bin Othman Al-Rumayyan; and the Kingdom's Ambassador to Indonesia, Faisal Al-Amoudi.
