Riyadh, October 1, 2024 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The Saudi Falcons Club is set to organize the prestigious Al-Mellwah race from October 7 to 12 at its headquarters in Malham, north of Riyadh. The race is part of the club’s ongoing mission to preserve the ancient heritage of falconry and pass it down to future generations.

Falcons will compete in a thrilling 200-meter dash, with the fastest birds qualifying for participation in the upcoming King Abdulaziz Falconry Festival. This year’s race will feature the "farkh" category, which includes specific falcon breeds such as Hur, Shaheen, Gyr Pure, Gyr Shaheen, Gyr Taba, and Mathlooth Gyr. A total prize pool of SAR750,000 will be awarded to the top 18 winners across six rounds.

Walid Al-Taweel, spokesperson for the Saudi Falcons Club, highlighted that the Al-Mellwah race will coincide with the International Saudi Falcons and Hunting Exhibition, which begins on October 3. The exhibition will feature more than 400 exhibitors from 45 countries, making it one of the largest global events dedicated to falconry and hunting.

The race and exhibition aim to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s position as a global hub for falconry, while fostering appreciation for this cultural tradition and engaging future generations in its preservation.
