Toulouse, April 24 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Saudia Group announced on Wednesday a new agreement with Airbus to acquire up to 20 A330neo wide-body aircraft, including 10 firm orders for its low-cost carrier flyadeal, as part of the group’s broader strategy to modernize its fleet and expand capacity.
The signing ceremony took place at the Airbus factory in Toulouse, France, and was attended by Saudia Group Director General Ibrahim Al-Omar and Airbus CEO of Commercial Aircraft Christian Scherer. The agreement was signed by Saleh Eid, Vice President of Fleet Management at Saudia Group, and Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President of Sales at Airbus Commercial Aircraft.
In a statement, Al-Omar said the deal represents a “pivotal milestone” in the group's long-term growth strategy. “It builds on last year’s historic deal with Airbus for 105 aircraft. This step aligns with our national strategies under Saudi Vision 2030, which aim to connect 250 destinations and facilitate travel for over 330 million travelers and 150 million tourists by the end of the decade,” he said.
Al-Omar also emphasized that the agreement will contribute to fleet modernization, improve maintenance efficiency, and enhance overall operational performance.
According to the press release, Saudia Group currently operates a fleet of 194 aircraft, covering passenger, cargo, and logistics services. With this agreement, the group moves forward with plans for substantial growth, with 191 new aircraft scheduled for delivery in the coming years.
The deal strengthens Saudia Group’s position in the global aviation sector and supports its objectives to expand regional and international connectivity, in line with the Kingdom’s broader ambitions under Vision 2030.
