Riyadh, February 12, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The 6th edition of Tuwaiq Sculpture 2025 has officially opened its accompanying exhibition, unveiling 30 monumental sculptures crafted by artists from over 20 countries. Held at ROSHN Front in Riyadh, the exhibition offers visitors an immersive experience into the world of sculptural artistry, featuring works that will become a lasting part of the city's cultural landscape.

Under the theme "From Then to Now: Joy in the Struggle of Making," the exhibition highlights the creative journeys of participating artists, reflecting the challenges, inspirations, and dedication behind each masterpiece. The showcased sculptures blend diverse artistic techniques with cultural and historical influences, embodying a global dialogue through the medium of stone and sculpture.

A Platform for Global Artistic Excellence

Tuwaiq Sculpture 2025 selected its 30 artists from a competitive pool of over 750 applicants worldwide, recognizing outstanding craftsmanship and innovation in sculpting techniques. Artists from 23 countries have contributed to this year’s exhibition, further enriching Riyadh’s art scene with international perspectives.

Sebastian Betancur-Montoya, Lead Curator of Tuwaiq Sculpture 2025, emphasized the exhibition’s role in preserving artistic legacies:"This exhibition is the culmination of weeks of dedication, collaboration, and artistic ingenuity. These sculptures are not just artworks; they are a permanent legacy that bridges past, present, and future, becoming an integral part of Riyadh’s cultural identity."

Public Engagement and Cultural Enrichment

Beyond displaying finished sculptures, Tuwaiq Sculpture 2025 offers a dynamic interactive program, inviting the public to engage with artists and gain deeper insight into sculpting techniques. Visitors can participate in:

  • Live sculpting demonstrations showcasing contemporary techniques.

  • Workshops and hands-on sessions with participating artists.

  • Panel discussions featuring leading experts in art and design.

  • Specialized training programs for sculpture enthusiasts and professionals.

This initiative fosters a deeper appreciation for sculptural art and provides a platform for knowledge exchange between artists and the public.

Following the exhibition, the sculptures will be installed across various public spaces in Riyadh, joining 35 sculptures from previous Tuwaiq Sculpture editions at King Abdulaziz Historical Center. This initiative aligns with Riyadh Art’s vision of transforming the capital into an open-air museum, reinforcing its position as a global hub for art and creativity.
