UAE Announces Success of Mediation in Latest Exchange of War Captives Between Russia and Ukraine

RIYADH, March 19 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — The United Arab Emirates has announced the successful mediation of a new exchange of war captives between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Ukraine, involving 175 Ukrainian captives and 175 Russian captives, totaling 350 individuals. According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), this brings the overall number of captives exchanged through UAE mediation efforts to 3,233.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its appreciation to both Russia and Ukraine for their cooperation in these mediation efforts, highlighting the mutual recognition of the UAE’s role in supporting initiatives to resolve the ongoing conflict.
WAM reported that the Ministry emphasized this latest exchange, the thirteenth conducted under UAE mediation, as a reflection of the strong diplomatic relations between the UAE and both countries.
The Ministry reaffirmed the UAE’s ongoing commitment to advancing all efforts aimed at achieving a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine. It also underlined the UAE’s dedication to mitigating the humanitarian consequences of the crisis, particularly for refugees and captives.
