Dubai, March 13 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has introduced the region’s first national regulation for the certification of air navigation service providers for unmanned aircraft, aimed at integrating drone operations into the country’s airspace.
The new framework, CAR Airspace Part Uspace, sets strict operational and safety requirements for organizations providing air navigation services for drones. It covers certification standards, contracting, training, quality assurance, safety, future planning, and auditing to ensure a structured approach to managing unmanned aerial systems.
“This regulation is not just about compliance; it is a testament to our commitment to safety, efficiency, and innovation in aviation,” said Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the GCAA.
The UAE expects drone operations to double in the near future as technology advances and autonomous aerial systems become more widely used. The regulatory framework will support industry growth while ensuring airspace safety, according to Aqeel Ahmed Al Zarouni, Assistant Director-General of Aviation Safety Affairs.
The move is part of the UAE’s broader strategy to position itself as a regional leader in aviation technology and regulation, reinforcing its role in shaping the future of air navigation services for unmanned aircraft.
