UAE President and Italian Prime Minister Discuss Strategic Partnership and Economic Cooperation in Rome
Riyadh, February 24, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni met today at Chigi Palace in Rome to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation under the UAE-Italy strategic partnership.
The meeting, held as part of Sheikh Mohamed’s state visit to Italy, focused on economic, technological, and cultural collaboration, with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to advancing relations in key sectors, including investment, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and sustainability.
Expanding Trade and Investment Ties
His Highness emphasized that UAE-Italy relations date back to the founding of the UAE and have since evolved into a strategic partnership. He expressed the UAE’s commitment to elevating ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership, further driving economic and technological cooperation.
The UAE President highlighted that non-oil trade between the two countries reached USD 14.1 billion in 2024, reflecting a 21.2% increase from the previous year. He noted that trade exchange is expected to continue growing, driven by enhanced cooperation in investment, advanced industries, and sustainability initiatives.
Additionally, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed reaffirmed the UAE’s USD 40 billion investment in Italy, aimed at fostering economic development and shared prosperity.
