Riyadh, October 6, 2024 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the UAE met with His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan today at Basman Palace in Amman. The leaders reaffirmed the strong fraternal ties between their countries and explored opportunities for further collaboration in areas supporting sustainable development, prosperity, and regional stability.


During the official reception, King Abdullah II warmly welcomed the UAE delegation, expressing his pleasure at their visit. Discussions between the two leaders focused on key areas of bilateral cooperation, including the economy, investment, sustainable development, food security, and renewable energy. Both leaders emphasized the importance of building strategic economic partnerships that align with their nations' aspirations for development and progress.


His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and King Abdullah II highlighted the significance of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement signed during the visit, viewing it as a natural progression in the countries' longstanding history of fruitful economic relations. The agreement aims to expand future opportunities for cooperation.


The two leaders also discussed various regional and international issues, particularly developments in Gaza and Lebanon. Both stressed the need for intensified efforts to achieve a ceasefire, protect civilians in line with international humanitarian law, and address the ongoing humanitarian crisis. They underscored the importance of preventing further escalation of the conflict and maintaining regional stability, while advocating for a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace based on the two-state solution.


President Sheikh Mohamed praised Jordan’s historical support for the Palestinian people and expressed appreciation for Jordan’s efforts in addressing the humanitarian situation in Gaza. The leaders emphasized the importance of enhancing Arab cooperation in response to the region's current challenges.

The meeting was attended by several senior UAE officials, including H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi, and H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs. From the Jordanian side, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan, and Deputy Prime Minister Ayman Safadi were among the attendees.


This meeting further solidified the UAE-Jordan partnership, with both nations committed to working together for the well-being of their people and the stability of the broader region.
