UAE Unveils Vision for National Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka Under Theme ‘Earth to Ether’

Riyadh, April 10, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The United Arab Emirates has officially unveiled the full vision for its national pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, during a media briefing hosted today by the UAE’s National Media Office. The Expo, scheduled to take place from April 13 to October 13, 2025, will mark a return to Japan 55 years after the UAE’s first participation in the World Expo.

Located in the Empowering Lives Zone, the UAE Pavilion will operate under the theme "Earth to Ether", reflecting the nation's transformation from its rich cultural heritage to a future shaped by innovation and global collaboration. The concept captures the UAE’s ambitions to advance space exploration, healthcare innovation, and sustainability—positioning the country as a driving force for collective global progress.

Minister of State and Commissioner of Expo Office - UAE, Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, emphasized that the pavilion is more than a national exhibit; it is a platform for collaboration and a celebration of Emirati values. She noted that the UAE’s participation in Expo 2025 Osaka would center on youth engagement, with 24 Emirati youth ambassadors working alongside 20 Japanese counterparts to share the country’s story in seven languages.

"Returning to Japan after more than five decades is not just symbolic," Al Kaabi said. "It reflects the UAE's commitment to fostering dialogue, building partnerships, and advancing a more inclusive and sustainable future."

UAE Ambassador to Japan and Commissioner-General of the Pavilion, Shihab Al Faheem, highlighted the deepening bilateral ties between the UAE and Japan. Non-oil trade between the two nations reached AED64 billion in 2024, a 32% increase from the previous year. He emphasized that the UAE Pavilion embodies the country’s openness, resilience, and commitment to strengthening international cooperation.

The Pavilion’s architectural design draws inspiration from the date palm tree, using agricultural waste combined with traditional Japanese woodworking techniques to create a structure rooted in sustainability. Its most striking feature is a forest of 90 rachis columns reaching up to 16 meters high, representing a fusion of tradition and innovation.

Throughout the six-month Expo, the UAE Pavilion will host over 40 public programs, including forums on sustainable technologies, healthcare, space exploration, and youth empowerment. These events will align with Expo Osaka’s thematic weeks and offer platforms for global dialogue.

A major highlight will be the celebration of UAE National Day, showcasing the country’s culture, leadership, and achievements on a global stage. This event is expected to draw international attention and affirm the UAE’s role as a convener and connector in global progress.

The UAE Pavilion is supported by several official partners, including ADNOC, PureHealth, Space42, and the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi.
