Weather Alert: Cold Temperatures, Frost, and Dust Storms Expected Across Several Regions in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, February 26, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) has issued a weather alert as a significant drop in temperatures is expected across several regions of Saudi Arabia, with frost likely to form in parts of the Northern Borders, Al-Jouf, Hail, Qassim, northern Riyadh, and the Eastern Region.
The cold wave is set to bring chilly conditions and possible frost formation, particularly in open areas and valleys, as temperatures approach freezing levels. Residents in these regions are advised to take necessary precautions against the cold weather.
In addition to the falling temperatures, dust-stirring winds will affect several areas, including Madinah, Makkah, Riyadh, Najran, Aseer, and Al-Baha, potentially reducing visibility on roads and creating hazardous driving conditions. The NCM urges motorists to exercise caution, especially in desert areas prone to blowing dust and sandstorms.
Marine conditions will also be affected by strong winds. In the Red Sea, winds will be northwesterly to northerly at speeds of 20-42 km/h in the northern and central parts, while the southern section will experience northwesterly to southwesterly winds at speeds of 12-45 km/h. Wave heights are expected to range between half a meter and two meters, with the sea conditions varying from calm to choppy.
Similarly, the Arabian Gulf will experience rough seas, with northerly to northwesterly winds in the north and northwesterly to westerly winds in the central and southern parts, reaching speeds of 20-45 km/h. Waves could rise up to two and a half meters, making navigation difficult for smaller vessels.
Authorities are urging residents to stay updated on official weather reports, dress warmly in frost-prone areas, and avoid unnecessary travel in regions affected by strong winds and poor visibility. Seafarers and fishermen are also advised to take precautions as sea conditions may be hazardous.
